Smart Communications announced, August 8, that it has launched a full app-based mobile network service called KiQ, a digital telco aiming to target the younger generation.

Offering subscribers customization from mobile number to plans, KiQ from Smart is mobile service brand for Zoomers.

What is KiQ?

KiQ is a new mobile brand that operates entirely through a mobile application. It is the country’s first fully app-based mobile service, and one of the early adopters of this kind of technology globally.

Perks of having a KiQ sim is customization. Starting with mobile number, the subscriber can choose theirs (to get your desired number, better hurry and have an account now).

Moreover, another personalization feature is through allowing customers to personalize their promos and unbundle services. This means, a total control and flexibility.

Here, subscribers can customize their data allocation, add calls and texts, and choose its validity period.

KiQ uses electronic sim (eSim) technology. eSim refers to a digital sim card that is built directly into a device, eliminating the need for a physical sim card. Common eSim sold in the Philippine in the market is through scanning a QR code but KiQ takes it further as activation can be done through mobile application.

How to Activate Your KiQ Account

To have a KiQ account, you’ll need to download the KiQ mobile application on the Google Play or Apple App Store.

Open the application and fill-in the required information.

Pay for the eSim that costs P99.00 and activate it in the phone’s settings.

The target market of KiQ is the Gen Z, also known as Zoomers.

Gen Z refers to those who were born in the early 21st century who are perceived as being familiar with the use of digital technology, the internet, and social media from a very young age. (Google Dictionary)

Smart’s chief operating officer Anastacio Martinez said, “Filipino Gen Zs are redefining how they live, share, and stay connected.

“With KiQ, we’re giving them a mobile experience that puts them in full control — no wasted data, no unnecessary add-ons, just total freedom and flexibility. This is what the future of mobile looks like.”
